I've seen the 1973 to 1982 original Match Game (CBS daytime version), which along with the syndicated nighttime
Match Game PM are the best there is. GSN shows them both all the time. The series improved when the Star Wheel was introduced in April 1978 so contestants would stop choosing Richard Dawson all the time, yet oddly enough
in its first telecast used Dawson's name came up twice after the wheel was turned anyway. At the end of the show the other panelists jokingly walked off the stage in protest! That fall (after Dawson left) the Match Game set was remodeled along with the Star Wheel and they both looked a lot better.

As for the Australian ripoff "Blankety Blanks", that was OK too. I ran across 1 episode of that somewhere online last year. If you want to upload those, Robin, feel free. :)

Forum: classic_tv Subject: Aussie Versions of American Game Shows

I'm planning to buy the American version on DVD soon. Speaking of American Game Shows that Australia produced there own versions, There were AU versions of "Name That Tune", "It Could Be You", "Wheel Of Fortune" and "Hollywood Squares". I saw a clip of the AU version "It Could Be You", it looks just as cheesy as the american version! It's probably PD, But none of the Aussie budget DVD companies seem interested in releasing old Aussie TV. In fact, even popular American PD shows like "Love That Bob" and "Ozzie and Harriet" are hard to find in Australia.
